Long-Term Clearer Vision

If you’ve been wearing glasses or contact lenses to correct vision problems, you may have considered laser eye surgery. The surgery is a way for patients to experience clearer vision and can reduce dependence on other correction methods.

For some patients, laser eye surgery may seem like a daunting or even complicated procedure. Our team at Vision Veritas is here to help you through the whole process. We offer laser eye consultations and surgery management appointments to help you through it all.

Is Laser Eye Surgery Right for You?

Before we can determine if you’re right for laser eye surgery, we ask that you visit for an eye exam. During this visit, we’ll address and potential risks and side effects of the surgery. Having an eye exam before the surgery can help us ensure the risks are minimal and that you’ll have the best experience possible.

Laser eye surgery is typically used to correct the following vision issues:

Types of Laser Eye Surgery

As each patient’s eyes and health conditions are different, we offer consultations for a couple of options for laser eye surgery. Depending on your eyes and the information we gather from your eye exam, we may recommend one of the following surgeries.

LASIK

Laser-assisted in situ keratomileusis (LASIK) is a form of laser eye surgery to reshape a patient’s cornea, helping to correct vision errors. The surgery involves numbing the patient’s eye and making a small incision on the outer layer of the cornea. A computer-programmed laser is then used to remove tissue, reshaping the cornea.

While pain is uncommon during the surgery, patients may feel slight discomfort or pressure.

Photorefractive keratectomy (PRK) is a form of laser eye surgery also used to correct refractive vision errors. Similar to LASIK, PRK involves reshaping the cornea. However, with PRK, corneal tissue on the outside of the eye is removed with a computer-programmed laser. This process only takes 5-10 minutes for each eye.
